Extremely Rare Westerwald Stoneware Oil Lamp, German origin circa 1720, round-bodied lamp mounted atop a tall stem extending from a rounded pedestal base. Applied spout designed to hold a wick connects to the body of the lamp. A small applied piece of clay with punched hole is located on the side of lamp. Highly unusual form. Found in an old well in Savannah, GA. Two small in-the-firing chips and one small post-firing chip to applied tubular spout. Damage to inner rim of spout. 1" faint hairline in base. H 7".
