Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "OLEAN NY," circa 1840, ovoid jug with thick spout, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt plant bearing two different flower blossoms, the one accented with cobalt spots. Slip-trailed "2" to right of decoration. Provenance: Sanford Smith, New York, New York. 2" section of handle reglued. 3 3/4" x 2" salt drip on side of jug. 1 1/2" salt drip on opposite side of jug. Small base chip. Spout chips. Some wear to midsection on reverse. H 15 1/4".
