Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, low-walled cylindrical crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Includes antique wooden lid. Small rim chips. Faint lines in rim on reverse, visible on exterior only. Light wear to base along edge. 1 5/8" hairline from rim on reverse. H (excluding lid) 7 3/4" ; D 10 5/8".
