Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Hearts Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1815, ovoid jar with heavily tooled shoulder, flared collar, and partially open loop handles, decorated with three impressed hearts below the maker's mark, "CHARLESTOWN." A drilled 1/2" hole in underside. Very large in-the-firing flakes to underside, extending to bottom edge. A 3/4" line on underside, forming a 3 1/2" line on reverse. A 3 1/2" line ascending from base on proper left side of jar. Small in-the-firing surface chips to body of jar. Crazing to shoulder on front. H 14 1/4".
