Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Hearts Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," attributed to Frederick Carpenter, circa 1815, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded loop handles, and tall collar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with two impressed hearts above a Charlestown maker's mark. Base with dipped iron decoration. Two small chips to interior of rim. A minor in-the-firing iron ping to exterior of rim. A few typical in-the-firing surface flaws. A short line from rim on reverse. A 4" Y-shaped surface line emanating from a tiny surface on reverse, not visible on interior. H 14 1/4".
