Two Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, American, 19th century, both of cylindrical form, one with brushed floral decoration around midsection, attributed to the Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1835, the other with slip-trailed foliate decoration, inscribed "1/2 G" in cobalt on reverse, NJ origin, circa 1855. Taller with a 6" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim, two in-the-firing surface chips (contact marks) to one side, a small in-the-firing base chip, and other minor in-the-firing surface flaws. Shorter jar with a horizontal crack at base, forming a Y extending onto underside, a small rim chip, and some residue to surface, including small spots of white paint. H (of taller) 8 3/4".
