Small-Sized Stoneware Bowl or Mortar, Southwestern VA origin, 19th century, ovoid bowl with thin, footed base, the exterior and interior surface covered in a clear salt glaze. Provenance: Found in Sugar Grove, Smyth County, Virginia; Case Antiques, Inc. Auctions & Appraisals, Knoxville, TN, 2008; Carole Wahler Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
