Fine Stoneware Canning Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Stenciled "From / James Hamilton & Co. / Greensboro, Pa.," circa 1870, tapering jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, featuring six freehand stripes and desirable "From James Hamilton" maker's stenciling flanked by graduated vertical dashes. A matte in-the-firing contact mark at base on front. Rim is warped with chipping to its interior. A 1 1/4" shallow in-the-firing flake (contact mark) to inner wax sealer rim. An in-the-firing contact mark to proper right side of jar. Some additional minor surface wear. H 8 1/4".
