Very Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Harvest Jug, Stenciled "RICHEY & HAMILTON / PALATINE. / W.VA," circa 1875, beehive form with two applied, tooled spouts at the shoulder flanking an arched handle across the top, featuring Richey & Hamilton maker's stenciling below stenciled scrollwork and a stenciled "2" flanked by flourishes. Handle decorated with diagonal cobalt dashes. One of only three Palatine harvest jugs that we have ever offered and the largest among these three, sporting a prodigious two-gallon capacity. Provenance: Ex-Earl Bush Collection with black marker notation on underside. Handle broken off cleanly and reglued to the jug at each terminal. A chip to one spout. H 16 1/2".
