Very Rare Stoneware Presentation Bank with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "Ed G Conklin Aug 7th 1878.," Western PA origin, 1878, tapering bank with footed base and tooled banding throughout, surmounted by an acorn finial, decorated with two clusters of leaves bearing dotted berries or flowers, flanking a vertical coin slot with rectangular cobalt border. Reverse decorated with a large fuchsia blossom. Heavy cobalt highlight to finial and cobalt banding to lower body. Base with incised and cobalt-highlighted name and date, "Ed G Conklin Aug 7th 1878." Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some spots of fry to cobalt. H 6".
