Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Federal Eagle Motif, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, Pa.," circa 1875, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring a stenciled design of a Federal eagle with shield across its chest, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its feet, surrounded by circular Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling within a geometric border. Small chips to interior of rim. A small chip to inner rim for lid. Two in-the-firing contact marks to proper right side of jar. H 8 1/4".
