Fine Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, attributed to Landrum Brick and Pottery, Eight Mile Branch, Columbia, SC, circa 1860, highly ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and stepped spout, the surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze with brown highlights to the bottom half. Exhibited/Literature: Great Pots from the Traditions of North & South Carolina, North Carolina Pottery Center, May 6 - July 22, 2017, p. 54 of exhibition catalog. Provenance: Brunk Auctions, Asheville, NC. A 7/8" chip to reverse side of spout and a 3/4" worn section to edge of spout. H 16".
