Scarce Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, attributed to Thomas Owenby, Sr., Union District, SC, circa 1864, ovoid jug with tapered spout and large strap handle with grooved center, the surface covered in a glossy, olive-colored alkaline glaze. This jug, noteworthy for its exceptional size, features a glaze and spout and handle construction that closely follow the famous 1864 Thomas Owenby "Confedrent (sic) Money" jug sold in Crocker Farm, Inc.'s auction of The Carole Carpenter Wahler Collection, Part I, January 2025, lot 103. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing residue to underside. H 5 1/2".
