Rare Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Two-Color Slip Decoration, attributed to the Collin Rhodes Pottery, Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, highly ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated in slip-trailed kaolin slip with a large flowering plant featuring fan-shaped blossoms and scalloped leaves, surmounted by a daisy, against a gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. Brushed iron slip highlights to handle terminals, an extremely rare treatment. Excellent condition with minor surface wear and a few glazed-over scratches to surface. H 14 1/2".
