Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff, possibly with Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with an abstract design of a plant featuring four brushed buds emanating from a slip-trailed stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A chip to front of rim and small chip to interior of rim. Inner rim for lid with two flakes and two minor nicks. H 10 3/4".
