Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CHOLLAR, DARBY & CO. / CORTLAND," New York State origin, circa 1835-1839, highly-ovoid cooler with ribbed open handles, squared bung hole, and unusual tooled spout, decorated with three brushed hanging tulips extending across the front. Bunghole decorated with unusual brushed X design surrounded by dots. Shoulder with highly unusual triple impression of Chollar, Darby & Co. maker's mark in an hourglass pattern. Cobalt highlights to maker's marks and handle terminals. Cooler measures approximately two to three gallons. Excellent form with visually-appealing maker's mark impressions. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a tight 3 1/2" spider line emanating from a stone ping on reverse. H 14 1/2".
