One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with tapered spout, brush-decorated with a large daisy blossom with spotted interior. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Two sections of handle reglued. An in-the-firing contact mark (chip) to top of handle. An in-the-firing iron ping to bottom edge. Staining to surface. Bubbling to cobalt. H 11 1/4".
