Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Cherries Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a cluster of three cherries hanging from a leafy branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and highlights to handle terminals. Staining throughout. A small in-the-firing base chip. In-the-firing network of surface fissures to underside. Some fry to cobalt. H 14 1/2".
