Rare Small-Sized Glazed Redware Jug, Inscribed "AB / 1816," New England origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base, tooled shoulder, and tapering neck with flattened mouth, the lead-glazed featuring mottled green coloration with orange accents. Underside with the carved initials and date, "AB / 1816," executed after the firing or possibly after the vessel had dried, but before it was fired. Very nice condition. Some old blackish residue to surface. Foot with a small chip and a few minor nicks. Long, in-the-firing wrinkles in the clay, which are glazed over. A small, circular in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder. Some wear to spout molding. H 4 3/4".
