Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Lid, Marked "CREAM TARTAR," attributed to the Dodge Pottery, Portland, ME, circa 1825, cylindrical jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flared collar, featuring the impressed and yellow-slip-highlighted inscription, "CREAM TARTAR." Includes original lid. Underside of jar and lid impressed "38." Areas of glaze loss to rim. Some surface wear. Restoration to lid, the extent of which is unknown as it is entirely painted on the top and sides. H (including lid) 6".
