Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with applied lug handles and semi-rounded rim, decoratrd with a large slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with detailed petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Brushed highlights to maker's mark. A 3" vertical line near base on reverse. A spot of staining to reverse. Some fry to cobalt. A 5/8" filled and colored hole in front, forming a large filled and colored flake to interior. H 10 7/8".
