Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Fish Decoration, Albany, NY area, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and semi-rounded spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a fish with impressed circular eye. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Cathy Treffeisen Collection. Base chips, the largest glazed-over. A 3/4" in-the-firing chip to midsection on reverse. A faint 3 1/2" line to underside. Some typical in-the-firing residue to surface, including some salt residue to shoulder on front. H 14 1/2".
