Lidded Stoneware Cake Crock attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, wide, cylindrical crock with lug handles, decorated on front and reverse with a drooping three-petaled floral motif. Swag decoration below each handle and highlights to handle terminals. Includes Remmey lid with graduated swags, probably not original to the crock. Crock with a 4" crack on underside extending 3" up base. One handle with an in-the-making glazed-over chip and cobalt-brushed chip as well as a U-shaped in-the-firing ping. Lid with a few chips and edge wear. Diam. (of crock) 10 1/4" ; H (of crock) 5 7/8" ; Diam. (of lid) 10 3/4".
