Rare Two-Gallon Worcester, MA Stoneware Advertising Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to F.B. Norton, Worcester, MA, circa 1858-1877, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Impressed at the shoulder with the highly unusual cobalt-highlighted advertising, "G F HEWETT. / THEATRE BUILDING / WORCESTER." Cobalt highlights to advertising and capacity mark. Two short in-the-firing fissures to interior of spout. A tiny in-the-firing iron ping to front. Some staining to surface. H 13 3/4".
