Four-Gallon Providence, RI Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Fort Edward, NY origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a crested bird with turned head, perched on a leafy branch, accented with spots. Impressed at shoulder with "WARREN & WOOD, / PROVIDENCE, R.I." advertising. Cobalt accents to advertising and capacity mark. Excellent condition with only minor flaws: some minor surface scaling to proper left side of crock, water glass staining to interior, minor water glass staining to reverse, and two small in-the-firing iron pings to front. H 11 1/4".
