Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "PETER A STARING / LITTLE FALLS N Y.," attributed to E. & L. P. Norton, Bennington, VT, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a floral spray, accented with spotted trails. Cobalt accents to maker's mark. Provenance: Cathy Treffeisen Collection. An approximately 2" x 2 1/2" U-shaped crack at base, including some chipping. Areas of staining to surface. Two minuscule nicks to spout. A salt drip to reverse. H 16 1/2".
