Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, circa 1975, ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including kaolin eyes with black-slip pupils, well-formed ears, nose, round cheeks, and crooked, smiling mouth with rock teeth. Surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze, primarily semi-gloss throughout with matte areas on reverse. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. Some losses to teeth, possibly in-the-firing. Otherwise excellent condition. H 9 1/4".
