Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed and Inscribed "Lanier Meaders / 9 / 12-29-30," Cleveland, GA origin, circa 1985, wheel-thrown jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face featuring a sad expression, including kaolin eyes with black-slip pupils and incised lashes, pronounced ears, nose with exposed nostrils, mouth with kaolin teeth, and large jowls. Surface covered in glossy olive-green alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature and erroneous date "12-29-30," along with the number "9" within a circle. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10".
