Very Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Chicken Waterer, Edgefield District, SC origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid form with rounded finial and carved circular opening at base, the surface covered in a mottled grayish to olive alkaline glaze. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. A small BB hole in shoulder. This form was probably made with a separate saucer, which has since been lost. H 13 1/2".
