One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, probably James River, VA, circa 1835, ovoid jar with semi-squared rim and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated with a stylized designs of paired leaves on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Surface wear. A few small rim chips. A 3" cross-shaped line below one handle. A 4" Y-shaped line to one decorated side. Small base chips. H 9 1/2".
