Unusual Lima, OH Stoneware Wine Jug with Incised Label, OH origin, late 19th century, cylindrical jug with reddish-brown Albany-slip-glazed surface, featuring an incised folk art label, "From the / California Wine Com. / Lima / Ohio.," including a squared insignia with a man's profile with incised X's and a circle, bearing the inscription, "White, / aug / 21." Very nice condition. Light wear around midsection. An in-the-firing contact mark (shallow unglazed spot to spout), a minor nick to spout, and some clay residue to shoulder. H 10".
