Rare Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Pointing Hand Motif, Inscribed, "J,S,G,S.," Midwestern origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of gloved hand pointing at the initials, "J,S,G,S." Decorated above with a slip-trailed "3" flanked by dashes. Possibly made as a wedding gift or object commemorating two family members with initials "JS" and "GS." Very nice condition with three spout chips and some light surface wear. H 14".
