Extremely Rare Stoneware Chicken Waterer with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.B. LEATHERS / MT. EAGLE, PA," circa 1875, beehive-form with tooled shoulder, knob-shaped finial, applied lug handles, and applied hooded watering trough to front. Brush-decorated on the reverse with a tulip motif and along the base of the trough with a swag motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. The first cobalt-decorated chicken waterer that we have ever offered bearing this highly-prized Central Pennsylvania maker's stamp. Significant loss to hood of applied watering trough. A 1 3/4" hairline to right side of trough. H 12".
