Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD STONEWARE CO, / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Fry to cobalt. Minor chips to front of rim. A chip and minor nick to interior of rim. A small in-the-firing iron ping to interior of rim. Staining to surface. Two minor in-the-firing iron pings to shoulder on front. H 10 3/8".
