Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.W. COWDEN / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1861, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with an undulating stem bearing leaves and oval flower buds. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing burn to front. H 16 1/4".
