Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jar with flattened rim and arched tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse in slip-trailed kaolin slip with a sunflower blossom surrounding a script 3. Gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. A 4 1/2" crack on underside forming a diagonal 9" crack ascending from base. A 1 1/4" handle chip. H 14 1/4".
