Scarce Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "L. MILES," Lewis Miles, Stony Bluff, Edgefield District, SC, mid 19th century, ovoid jar with applied lug handles, tooled collar, and semi-rounded rim, the surface covered in a mottled green-and-rust-colored alkaline glaze. Excellent condition with some minor chipping to base, very minor surface wear, a small in-the-firing surface flake near base, and an in-the-firing recessed spot near midsection on front. H 13 1/2".
