Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, cylindrical jar with tapered shoulder and flared collar, the surface decorated with a continuous looping trail of kaolin slip against a gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. A thin 2 1/2" crack from rim. A thin 3 1/2" crack from rim, which forms an X at the rim. A small in-the-firing ping to shoulder. A fleck of missing slip on the decoration. H 8 3/4".
