Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO / PA," circa 1875, tapered jar with inner "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled shield surrounding James Hamilton maker's stenciling. An in-the-firing base chip. An in-the-firing contact mark on side of jar. Shallow chips to interior of rim. A small chip to inner wax sealer rim. Staining to surface. Minor spots of fry to cobalt. H 8 1/2".
