Outstanding Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral-and-Wreath Motif, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a design of a flower blossom within an elaborate wreath. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Strong decoration, desirable slip-trailed treatment, and superb color. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 14 1/4".
