Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Lowell, MA Advertising, Stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed foliate motif above the inscription, "C. Callahan. / 50 River St. / Lowell." Cobalt accent to maker's mark. Excellent condition with a chip to interior of spout, a minor in-the-firing spout chip, which is glazed over, and two tiny fissures in spout. A hairline in base of handle. Two small, in-the-firing base chips. A 2 3/4" hairline to shoulder on front. A stain to base. H 14".
