Fine and Scarce Glazed Redware Cup with Slip Interior, Stamped "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA origin, circa 1840, delicately-potted, ovoid form with footed base and flaring rim, the shoulder and handle decorated with manganese sponging, the interior coated in cream-colored slip, all under a clear lead glaze. Desirable, early-period Bell maker's mark and rare slip treatment on interior. A thin 2 1/4" crack from rim on front and a thin 1 3/4" crack from rim on reverse. Wear to rim. A few glaze flakes to interior. H 2 7/8" ; Diam. 4".
