Glazed Redware Lidded Jar with Ropetwist Handles, PA origin, 19th century, ovoid jar with elaborate straight and wavy line incising, the handles twisted to resemble rope, each embellished with impressed crosshatching at their terminals. Surface covered in a lead-and-manganese glaze. Includes original domed lid. Incised 8 on underside. Loss to one handle. Wear to opposite handle and rim. A tiny nick to foot. Lid with wear around edge and a 1 1/4" area of shallow chipping to flange on underside. H (including lid) 6 1/2".
