Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt "1865" Date, Beaver, PA origin, 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with the large date, "1865," with stripe below, applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt-script "3" at shoulder. Cobalt daubs to handles and highlights to handle terminals. A 2 1/4" restored section to each handle. A spider crack to left side of crock. Hairlines to underside. Staining to base. A few minor rim chips. H 13 1/2".
