Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a foliate design. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Staining to lower body of jug. An approximately 6" U-shaped crack at base on reverse, including another adjoining crack extending 7 1/2" across underside. H 17".
