Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. BURGER, JR. / ROCHESTER.N.Y.," circa 1885, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with spotted blossom. Slip-trailed "2." at shoulder. Cobalt accent to maker's mark. A small chip to interior of rim. Provenance: Bruce and Vicki Waasdorp, Clarence, NY. A 4 1/4" X-shaped line on underside, including a vertical line extending 2" up base on side of jar. H 9 7/8".
