Six-Quart Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Chicken Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY / N.Y. / POTTERY," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a large chicken atop an elaborate ground with shrubs. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A spider crack on underside, forming two large Y-shaped cracks extending to midsection on reverse. Chip to front of rim. Wear to interior of rim. Tiny chips and wear to inner rim for lid. H 11".
