Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Cowden Family, Harrisburg, PA, second half 19th century, a two-gallon ovoid jug with large brushed tulip motif, stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865; paired with a two-gallon ovoid jar with stenciled X-shaped design, stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," circa 1885. Jug with fry to cobalt, staining to surface, and two base chips. Jar with 6 3/4" x 2 1/4" L-shaped crack from rim on front, a 6 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on reverse, and rim chips. H (of jug) 14".
