One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled rim, brush-decorated on the front, sides, and reverse with various designs of tulips emanating from leafy stems. Horizontal floral decoration around collar. Stylized decoration of a tulip blossom surrounding lower handle terminal. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced PA collection, purchased by the consignor between 1963 and 1975. Very nice condition with a 1" chip to foot on reverse beside a minor, glazed-over nick to foot. A small, possibly in-the-firing, chip to foot on front. H 10".
