One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRISBURG .PA," William Moyer, Harrisburg, PA, circa 1858-1861, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a daisy plant featuring a circular, multi-petaled blossom flanked by two buds. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Good decoration with exceptional color. Excellent condition with a minor chip to end of one handle, a tiny nick to opposite handle, and the following minor in-the-firing flaws: a small contact mark to front of jar, a glazed-over iron ping near base on side of jar, and small surface fissures to underside, not visible on interior. H 9 7/8".
